What format should I use to submit?

We prefer BluRay, but we will accept DVD. Remember, we just want to see your film in it’s best light.

Do you accept music videos, documentaries or animation?

Absolutely. Music videos should be entered as a short film. Documentaries and animated pieces should be registered according to their length.

What differentiates a short film from a feature film?

A short film is any film under 40 minutes in length. These can be narratives, documentaries, experimental or animated.

What constitutes a Hispanicize film?

In order to be considered for entry to the showcase, your film should have a Latino in a creative position i.e. director, producer, writer, cinematographer, etc… or be a Latino themed story. Films to be considered should have been produced no earlier than 2011 and have not seen a theatrical release in the US, outside of the festival circuit prior to submission.

When should I know if I have been accepted?

We hope to have all notifications out by March 6th. If there is still a possibility of your film being in contention by this date, you will be notified as such.

Should I send photos with my entry?

No. If you are chosen to present for the festival, we will reach out to the filmmaker to submit high-resolution stills electronically.

Can we submit works in progress?

Yes, but we will not screen an unsolicited work in progress. You may submit a work in progress by either of the submission deadlines. We will consider your piece for entry to the festival based on the merits of the work submitted at that time. If chosen, the final cut must be received 2 weeks in advance of the screening.

May I submit an updated version of my film other than the one submitted?

Yes and no. You may not send a new version to replace the version originally submitted for consideration. BUT, if you have already been invited to screen your work at the festival, we will consider an updated piece if it is received 2 weeks before the festival.

Is there a discount for student filmmakers?

No.

What is the prize for winning filmmakers?
